rELAY FOR lIFE
Things that worked: The choreographed fight brought a big crowd. We should make a cheap vote for who will win donation thing if we do it again, maybe with buttons that show your support for one side or the other. We could do a raffle with raffle tickets that they put into who they think will win, and pull the tickets from the winner of the combat. We should continue to be conscious of doing events that fit our talents because it turned out really well. We would need to generate more hype for these events by talking to the volunteer people to do announcements. We had a great turnout with people involved and we really had a great connection with other organizations. We also did much better with walking the entire time.
Things to be improved: Relay for Life people are incredibly disorganized. We need to keep this in mind. They don't really prepare and will not email back and announce meetings at the last minute. People next year need to be prepared for this next year. They will email you the day of about meetings. We started early, but we need to keep in mind what our schedules are like in the spring when relay happens. We should get someone to commit to this in early spring semester and not fall. We did a lot of things last minute. Our last meeting ran way over just talking about relay. If you aren't going to be here and no one else is that is in charge, delegate information to someone else so we can proceed. We need to solidify much earlier. We shouldn't do anything in the fall because of the lag time. As a solution for putting things off, we should have a master calendar of our events as a hard copy and an electronic copy. We had some freshmen there who helped out like Madia and Garrett. We should reach out of our group for events such as this. It ran pretty smoothly given our circumstances. We should invest in a new spikes for our tent. Next year we should work on making our table look more appealing to others. We should also repaint our letters. We should have more people there in the second shift (midnight-end) We should have something more substance food-wise, like build your own sandwich. Maybe when it's not as windy, we can do smores. Or we could rent a popcorn or a cotton candy machine?
